Kalvin Phillips cannot wait to play under Pep Guardiola after completing his switch from Leeds to Manchester City. 

The England midfielder, 26, has signed a six-year contract at the Etihad as he looks to cement a place in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad.

"To be able to play under Pep and learn from him and his coaching staff as well as be part of a such a fantastic squad is a prospect I am incredibly excited about.

"I can’t wait to get started and to look to try and help the team to go on and achieve more success."

The Premier League champions made signing Phillips a priority this summer following the departure of Fernandinho.

Having landed their man in a deal reportedly worth £45milion including add-ons, the Yorkshireman will battle Rodri for the defensive midfield position.

Phillips was a graduate of the famed Leeds academy and made 214 appearances for the Whites, playing a key role in their return to the top flight.

England's Player of the Year in 2020-21, he was a standout performer for the Three Lions at Euro 2020. 

In a separate deal, Darko Gyabi has left City's academy to and join Leeds.

Central midfielder Gyabi, 18, has signed a four-year deal at Elland Road.
